Alex Michaelides lindi në Qipro, në vitin 1977, nga një baba grek dhe një mama angleze. Studioi letërsi angleze në Cambridge University dhe përfundoi studimet master në American Film Institute në Los Anxhelos. Ka shkruar skenarin e disa filmave, mes të cilëve: The Devil You Know (2013), me Rosamund Pike dhe The Brits are Coming (2018), me Uma Thurman, Tim Roth, Parker Posey dhe Sofia Vergara.  “Pacientja e Heshtur” është romani i tij i parë.
